● Who We Are
A School Designed With Girls in MindResearch shows that in mixed-gender classrooms girls are often interrupted more, called on less, and praised for compliance rather than curiosity.
Kwenda exists to flip that script.
We center girls (and their brilliance) so they feel free to ask questions, test ideas, and take up space. When girls learn in an environment designed specifically for them, their confidence rises—and their academic outcomes rise with it.
✨ Kwenda means “go” in Swahili.
We believe that our girls deserve an education that provides the knowledge, skills, and habits to “go” wherever they want to in life - from college, to the design studio, to the White House, to the moon.
● Our Mission & Philosophy
OUR PRINCIPLES●
Center Girls’ Voices
We are a school where girls speak up, take the lead, and trust their ideas. Every part of our day is designed to make space for girls to grow confident in their thinking.
●
Rigor, Joy, and Purpose
Kwenda blends strong academics with joyful learning. Through engaging, research-based instruction, girls build essential skills and feel confident, challenged, and eager to learn.
●
Childlike Wonder and Ease for All
When a classroom feels caring and open, girls lean into learning with curiosity. We protect time and space for play and exploration, giving each child the freedom to imagine and grow in ways that feel empowering.
●
Grow Courageous, Justice-Minded Leaders
Kwenda girls learn to lead with courage and kindness. They think critically, stand up for themselves and others, and grow the confidence to make a difference—starting now.
