LEARNING AT KWENDAKwenda Collegiate Girls believes that girls deserve spaces of joy - where they can see, learn, and grow into the change makers our world needs. ✨
Our school day blends strong, research-based instruction with movement, play, and hands-on exploration. Girls build essential academic foundations while also practicing collaboration, curiosity, and leadership. With consistent routines and nurturing teachers, they finish each day feeling confident, empowered, and loved.
● Program Overview
The Kwenda Collegiate Girls Difference
The Kwenda Difference comes from putting girls at the center.
We offer a learning experience rooted in joy, high expectations, and deep care—giving every girl the foundation to think boldly, lead confidently, and feel proud of who she is.
Two Teachers in Every Classroom
Two teachers in every classroom means more opportunities for small-group instruction, one-on-one support, and real-time feedback. Girls get the right level of challenge and encouragement, helping them build skills and confidence each day.
A School Focused on Gender Justice
We believe girls should grow up expecting to lead, not waiting to be invited. Our approach to gender justice ensures they learn in a place that removes limits, builds confidence, and prepares them to shape their futures on their own terms.
Full STEAM Ahead: A Focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math
STEAM at Kwenda is about igniting wonder and helping girls recognize their power as creators and problem-solvers. Our classrooms invite them to explore big questions, design boldly, and see themselves in the legacy of women who’ve shaped science and innovation. Here, they learn not only how the world works, but how they can change it.
Safe, Nurturing, Classroom Communities
At Kwenda, we build classroom communities where girls feel cared for and at ease. With steady routines and supportive teachers, our classrooms become places where curiosity grows and every child feels ready to learn.
Raising Readers With Something to Say
We teach girls that reading can open doors and challenge the world as it is. From the start, they learn to question, imagine, and look for truth in the stories they read. In the early grades, that begins with more than two hours a day of joyful literacy immersion: explicit phonics instruction, culturally-rich texts, and deep thinking. This is how they grow into readers who speak clearly and push for a freer, more just world.

"The type of education my daughter receives is important to me because I want her to grow into the most aware and confident woman possible. I want her to be as equipped as possible to manage all the challenges and obstacles she will inevitably face in this society, in this world in a positive and healthy way. I want her to know her history/ her background, as a woman and more specifically a woman of color.”
